Turbo not kicking in!

2003 Evo 8

Current mods: TBE, drop in filter, and greddy bov
the evo has around 79k miles

issue: Just started, my turbo doesnt kick in at all! Usually the turbo starts kicking in around 3-4k rpm but didnt feel any boost and it doesnt accelerate like it normally does. There is some boost build up but very little.
Any clue what is wrong?

thanks

did you disconnect your vtec controller? HAHA

all kidding aside, check your piping. It's very common for a pipe to blow off causing you to lose pressure.
I highly recommend a boost leak test sooner or later, but check the piping (more obvious).

Make sure the rod on the waste gate actuator is hooked up to the waste gate arm. There is a pin that holds these together that can work its way out.

I see you have a Greddy BOV but I didn't read hard pipes on your list of mods. Just a thought but aftermarket BOV are designed to withstand more pressure which usually comes with hard IC pipes. If you still have the stock rubber pipes this might cause a boost problem. Also, do you have the S or R type BOV? Check the spring. With some BOVs you can change to a stiffer spring if you're running higher than stock boost levels but not recommended if you're running stock boost levels.

I have the greddy type s bov. Ive been using it for over 3 months now could it still cause a problem now? Im using stock boost.

Just wondering could my turbo be bad? I havent raised the boost at all been stock for awhile just recently got mods on stock boost.

I checked the waste gate it seems fine, and I also checked the piping. All the clamps are tight and the piping seems to look ok.

Do you have a boost gauge? It would be a good idea to get one after this

Ok so I drove the car around and I noticed when ever I let off the clutch/gas the rpms drop down normal then once it hits about 2k rpm and below it decrease dramatically slow then stops at alittle above 1k rpm then drops down to 900 rpm after a second or so.

Judging by your miles and you saying it was spooling at 4k means your turbo has gone. Take your intake off and try to turn the compressor wheel. It probably wont turn. Seen this on WRX's.

A shop should take about 3-4 hours. I have done it in 30 minutes. It all varies on the shop. Check your wheel though. I am almost positive your wheel seized up. I hope I am wrong. Might be about that time to look for an upgrade.
