? Best turbo for running e85

Ok, so.... ive been mulling around trying to decide what turbo would be best used with e-85. For those that dont know its rated ( if its 85% ethanol) at 105 octane. I was thinking either a green or a 50trim. I thought about a 3065, but dont think it will out perform a 50 trim on e85 tho. Any imput . thank guys oh, mods that are relevent are: 950cc injectors, comp cams, IC piping upper and lower, aem boost controller, and other minor stuff. As of now im running the stock turbo with a FP wga. Last run on the dyno jet was 376whp.

what are your goals? The 3065 will most definately ourperform the 50 trim but you sacrifice spool. Personally I am hoping to get a green with full bolt ons and possibly make 400/450 with near stock spool. Also once you start getting much above that you need to rebuild and do alot of engine/head work to have a safe car.

i would talk to Luke and see what he thinks, it all depends on how much power you want to make, and how much lag you can stand

Well, my goal is to get around 425-450 whp. im not to worried about having to build the motor yet. i have rod bolts in and head studs. ( saftey is all in da tune mostly) Im not to sure about the 3065 out doing the 50 trim but i could be wrong. i dont see me getting over 26-27 psi on e85 is why i say this. 26-27 psi is a level for a 50trim. Who knows, maybe ill wait to see what happen with the HTA3065 when someone gets one

yeah, since he is my tuner that should be where i start . I had a 35r on my other evo and is was'nt to bad. I really like the drivability of the quicker spooling turbo. Im loving the stocker, but it peters out to much on top.

You obviously don't know your turbo's. A 3065 will perform just as well as a 35r if all you are going to run is 27lbs. A 3076r is more comparable to a 50 trim. I like the fpgreen. Stock like spool and a **** load of torque. Very fun DD.

um, you obviously dont know how to read. i wasnt comparing the 3065 to the 35r. i was compairing the performance of the 3065 vrs the 50 trim at 27 psi, but thanks for the imput. I agree with you on the fpgreen. for the money this thing is freaking killer. on e85 should be fun. I may end up just doing a ETS 50 trim kit that way when i get board its only a matter of a new turbo and tune. I think im going to spend the 2000 grand i have and do a exedy twin first. still on the stock clutch. B

I personally love the Green on E85. I've hurt a few V8's feelings on my "stock turbo"

^ hey dsmfan do you have numbers on the green with e85 (track or dyno)? Also When comparing the 3065 and 35r The 35r will have more lag and will only outdo the 3065 at higher boost levels (like said above 28 or so). The 50 trim is also a good option. But I would not recommend anything bigger than the 3065 if your running e85 without buidling the head. For your goals the green is perfectly capable with full bolt-ons. And prob the cheapest route.

1) No such word as "imput." You've written it twice now, so I'm guessing you actually think that is a word. Also, a "board" is a piece of wood. Seriously, dude...

2) 425-450whp is nothing. You can get close to 425whp on the stock turbo with E-85 and can easily do it with the FP Green.

3) Uh, a 3065 will of course make more power than a 50-trim on E-85.

4) 950s will only be enough for a Green at most on E-85.

I would say go green also. I'm planning to run e-85 on my stock turbo and hopefully break 400 hp.

e85 fuel flow is the limiting factor when moving large volumes of mas flow. Probably a turbo that performs within 8000 rpm, whatever that would be.

One weird thing discovered is that ethanol maintains turbine outlet temp whereas gasoline turbine inlet temp is much greater than turbine outlet. So the fuel makes the turbo perform differently too.
