found cause for my random misfire
found cause for my random misfire
So for about a week my car has been sitting because it was misfiring. I replaced plugs and wires with no luck. I was about to order new coils when for no real reason i decided to check out my maf. When to my suprise i took of my filter and found this:

So the honeycomb in my maf fell out. I cleaned my maf and went for a drive. Seem to run fine and i logged it with no knock. Now i know i read not to drive without that in but why? what does that do that is so important?

Stops large rocks that get through your filter. My honeycomb fell out too and it took my MAF with it 100 miles away from home. It sucked driving home in limp home mode... Get a new or used MAF from a member here.
Honeycomb is not for rocks - it straightens the airflow, so it can be measured accurately by the MAS. You can drive without, but metering won't be accurate, so get a new one asap.
And holy crap!!! That looks crazy!!

I should have my stock maf sensor somewhere, I am running map, so I won't be needing it. It had 27000 when it was removed in near perfect condition. PM me if your interested, I wouldn't know what to charge you, but I know they are not cheap to buy new.

but is it safe to drive for a few days as i have no other way to get to work?
