Exedy HD Twin Weight?

I just got my Exedy HD twin and am installing it, and I noticed it is substantially heavier then the standard clutch/flywheel combo and I was wondering how this affects driveability. I do a lot of road racing and autox. I was pretty disappointed actually as I am really a fan of lightweight flywheels in my previous cars.

Opinions on selling this and switching to Quartermaster? Is it lighter? Thanks.

stick with the exedy its a nice piece of equipment. It does not affect driveability. It is actually very nice to drive. The flywheel is not the heavy part on the exedy twins its the Intermediat plate it wont hurt your power. i have not had a qautermaster twin to drive yet. but i have my exedy its great and i have installed quiet a bit.

the different clutch weights are pretty well documented. the exedy twin is about the same as the stock clutch/flywheel. if you want something light weight, try the ralliart twin, it is as light as a carbonetics twin carbon but its not carbon. for something that isn't astronomically expensive, you could always go to a single plate with an ultra light flywheel. the ACT prolite flywheel is about 10 pounds. the fidanza aluminum flywheel is sub 10 lbs

I went ahead with the Exedy and I am pretty happy so far. The weight really hasn't affected driveability much. I take it a lighter clutch disc helps the synchros because shifting is improved, which is what I wanted to improve the most.

What its still rotating with the motor and rotating weight robs HP

Since you have already installed the Exedy or decided to keep it, the weight will actually makeing driveing the car easier/better. The light weight clutch disks in it will be much better on your trans and esier to shift faster.

However i don't mine driveabilty and do alot of roll racing so i went with a ACT prolite flywheel and a 6 puck unsprung to have almost the lightess clutch disk and flywheel possible for the money.

I imagine on a turbo car a heavier flywheel has its advantages. I am actually very satisfied, rev matching is still very easy and the shifting has improved greatly. I would love to have a twin disc with an aluminum flywheel to compare driveability with this current clutch.

I weighed mine at 29lbs. How much does a stock clutch with flywheel weigh?

I didn't weigh the two combinations, but the stock felt significantly lighter... I can weigh the stock one soon though.
