47k and clutch is finally slipping
Well I got my evo 8 used in June of 07 with 37k miles. Car was stock and Ive since modded it. Theres 47k on the clock now and Im positive the stock clutch has never been changed and well......its slipping like a madman now.
Only looking to hold 400whp which my evo doesnt produce
What should expect to spend ?? Any and all help greatly appreciated.Im in south florida btw.

everyone will tell you to search. But ACT MB7-HDSS or Exedy twin disk will do the job. Do you want stock-like pedal feel? do you mind noise? It kinda depends on what you're looking for but I would go for the ACT street or ACT Xtreme as they are much cheaper than the Exedy twin's.

The feel isnt that important to me nor is noise.Like I said anything better than stock should be fine for my application.Just want to see whats cheap and popular. Thanks for the reccomendations btw.
The ACT does have a few issues with it in terms of high RPM lockout. A clutch pedal adjustment SHOULD fix this, but many forget to do so after an install. I'll probably get the Exedy Twin on my car when that time comes around though. I'm at 28K with no slippage so I'm just crossing my fingers.
First of all, a clutch's holding power is rated by tq, not hp. I personally would go with a ACT HDSS. I love my XTSS. It has a much heaver pedal feel over stock, but I have heard the HDSS is close to stock.

. I've linked a thread that is currently in the drivetrain forum with reviews both good and not so good and from from users making above average power with our clutch kits.

So then the problem is an adjustment issue not really an ACT issue right?
.
I'm glad you like the our MB7-XTSS, however even our HDSS kit is far cry from the factory clutch. The stock clutch will hold about 373 ft. lbs. at the flywheel and ours will hold 508 ft. lbs at the flywheel.

A local VIII owner had I believe the ACT HDSS kit and he never complained once about it. He had a 400 WHP setup. Guess he did his homework on installing it correctly.
Why do you think it is your clutches need that extra little step and the Exedy Twins don't? I think the OEM one is in fact an Exedy and that may be the reason, but this has always stumped me.
