Just installed Vishnu Stage I
Heres the current info on my car for those who are interested:
Stage I Vishnu except I do not yet have boost control and am still using the first customer Evo Xede that Vishnu sold.
At the end of the Vishnu meet today my car (Silver - short wing) made 262 whp on a mix of part 100 and part 104 Octane gas with stock boost.
I will switch to the newer Xede with boost control when Shiv receives the plug-in wire loom in about a week and will post new results thereafter.
FWIW my car originally made a baseline (as I recall) of 185 whp when stock and 218 whp with the Vishnu Stage O mods on the Vishnu dyno. The original Stage O mods included the Vishnu Signature cat back exhaust and the Xede.
Two weeks ago when we added the Stage I without boost control my car did 240 whp on 91 Octane on the Vishnu dyno. It was very hot (temp 104.5 at the dyno!) and max. boost was only 18 and some change. Relative humidity was high too.
My car's stage I mods currently include the Vishnu Signature 3" down pipe, high flow cat and cat back, Xede and altered cam timing with stock cams. When we complete the Stage I kit I will be adding boost control with the newer Xede and the plug-in wire harness.
BTW the map in my car when it made 262 whp today came directly from Shiv's red Evo and was not custom tailored to my car. Custom tuning may have netted at bit more HP but it was already very late in the day.
My guess regarding actual crank HP is that it is in the 375 range now with the good gas and 345 or so with 91 Octane. I would expect my car will run in the 112+ mph, ~12.70 range with 0-60 under 4.0 sec at this point using the good gas. I may be a bit off; I have not thought much about these numbers.
I can tell you that the Stage I really adds a thrill in the 6000-7500 rpm range and these cars start to feel actually fast and lots of fun with this much horsepower. Not that this is all that much power compared to where I hope to end up and where others already are, but I'm just saying that once you get into this range the car is way more fun and for many this may well be enough power.
I'm looking forward to the next steps on my slow but deliberate upgrade path. Other than as listed above I have not touched the car with any other mods. or additions what-so-ever (except the S2000 antenna).
Oh, and drivability with both the Stage O and the Stage I is totally the same as stock including idle, etc. Both Stage O and Stage I make as much or more than stock power everywhere on the hp and torque curves as I recall.
I'm not bragging or endorsing any products here but just trying to be honest and accurate in reporting my mods and the results.
And as Shiv would say; Cheers, espically all those who actually showed up at the Vishnu shop today!

yea I think you haven't thought too much, 240 whp is not good for 112+ traps, and for sure not sub 4.0 0-60 times.
Take it to the track and get some slips first. It's a whole different world there.

Shiv,
btw, thanks for having the dyno day today. It was good to finally see your place.
I was the guy with the (only) white 1g DSM, the 90 Talon TSi AWD. Too bad I didn't have time to get it on the dyno but I actually would like to get it on there in the next couple weeks.
thanks again, it's nice to know there is a good tuner in the bay area.
as far as the 112 traps with 260whp. I doubt it, let bill go get a time slip. Like I said, the drag strip is a whole different world, with the simple horsepower calulators out there , (speaking of e-racing
) for a 3450 car , thats with a 200lb person in it, it says you need 378 hp for 112 traps.

Nice meeting you today. FWIW, it took 255 wheel hp *on our dyno* to push a 3450lb WRX (with driver) to 111mph trap speeds at the last SCC test. It also takes only 230 wheel hp on our dyno to push a full weight EVO to 106-107mph traps. It's easy to mistake our hp numbers for those generated by dynojets which are substantially higher. I think this is contributing to the confusion.
Cheers,
shiv
damn, your dyno must read really really really low then.
Guess it doesn't matter though since it being consistant is what matters when your tuning anyway.
So how many times a day do you have to defend the hp #'s from your dyno? I can imagine it's getting a bit old eh?
I apologize for my confusion on the numbers.

Well then I just ordered one. I don't see any maps for 92 octane (I know I've asked about this before, sorry), though I listed that in the 'comments' section of the online order form so what's the end result, just using a 91 map?

91/92, 93/94 and 100+octane race gas maps for both Stage Zero and Stage One be up within the week. Along with a whole bunch of Stage 1 info. Been real busy at the shop with harness testing and last-minute pre-release work so website udpating has been pretty lacking lately.
Cheers,
Shiv
