How much longer... and how much better does it actually perform?

Okay, since you don't want to search and find the answers, I guess I'll answer you.

The restrictor is in the hydraulic fitting at the slave cylinder (clutch actuator). When you depress the clutch, the fluid pushes the restrictor from it's seat and allows the free flow of hydraulic fluid to the piston to move the fork.
When you release the clutch the restrictor is back against it's seat and the fluid is forced to flow only through the hole in the center which is about 1/16 or so. This does not allow the clutch to engage fully all at once but slows it's engagement.
Mitsu's obvious intention was to try and protect the clutch and driveline from the heavy shock of a high RPM cluch drop.
IMO the feel of the clutch with restrictor is desensitized and you really cannot feel it's true engagement. After removal you can actually feel it's engagement and adjust your driving style to the operation of the clutch. This is really a night and day difference in feel and with the restrictor out it would seem much easier to care for the clutch properly.
The clutch poll thread contains pictures of the restrictor taken by a really nice mod.
Really though all this information is in there and some of it is credit to ACT for operation of the restrictor. (Wasn't aware that the restrictor seated and only allowed fluid through the center)

On a related note, I haven't done any clutch drops. I have yet to smell the clutch burning. I just recently pulled the restrictor and now that it is out am pretty confident in the clutch and it's longevity. (Yes my fingers are crossed)

Nothing to do with the clutch replacement.

I took mine out and it feels much nicer. Warning, if you like to launch your car alot, you will destroy transfer cases instead of clutches with this mod. If you know how to drive a car properly, I don't think this will be a problem.

Took mine out at about 2500 miles... still had a smoked clutch at 4500. It improves launch feel and control, but isn't the vaccination against clutch failure.

What is the difference if you put in a Twin plate....wouldnt that create more harsh conditions for the transfer case?
