CYL 1 and 3 are DEAD!!!

Hi my name is ryan and i have recently done some work to my 2003 Evo 8. The things i did were
- new oem head gasket
- new timing belt and balance shaft belt
- arp head studs
- exhaust mani, o2 housing, downpipe, test pipe (already had a cat-back)

I have done many tests but can't figure out why my cyl 1 and 3 are dead and need advice....

things i have checked are
- compression, 180 on all 4
- spark, tried using new and old plugs, used a spark tester and found it to have adaquate spark
- fuel, injectors are pulsing properly, check em with a noid light and multi meter
- cas, its not 180 out. its dead on
- timing, its dead on.
- no check engine light

i also checked a few other things but need some advice... anybody have a problem like this before???

1 and 3 are not DEAD if the compression is 180.

You need to check your cam angle sensor and make sure the coil triggers aren't reversed.

with the injectors to cyl 1 and 3 disconected and with the car running, i plug the injectors for 1 and 3 back in and nothing changes except the fuel goes into the exhaust and starts burning and shooting flames out the tailpipe. remove spark plugs and they are covered in fuel.

explain more about the coil triggers. iv check the cas and the small part is 45 degrees to the left as it should be, thats all i understand about the cas.

how did you hook up the plug wires to the cylinders? i've seen pictures of people on here plugging them in wrong. cylinders 1+4 use the same coil, and cylinders 2+3 use the same coil.

if you mixed them up (plugging 1+2 together, and 3+4 together), cylinders 1+3 would be firing 180* off.

no its basicly impossibe to due that due to the length of the plug wire coming off from the coil over cyl 2 being much longer in order to reach cyl 1. u'd have to try really hard to **** that up cause im pretty sure with stock wires its imposible

definately not impossible. if you switch the coils from what they should be, the one with the short wire connects cylinders 3+4, and the long wire from coil on cyl 2 wraps back over the coil to cyl 1.

the correct way to hook up coils should be like this:

and its obvious that you could potentially swap the coils and install them incorrectly.
