5th Gear Harmonics and P0300 - Does it Get Worse over Time?
Gooood afternoon,
After digging through pages of awesome threads on P0300, which I should say answered 90% of my questions, I am left with one thing to decide.
I rarely get the P0300 code in 5th, which according to research is the Harmonics falesly sending the misfire code and has the car pull timing, etc.
Rarely is.. maybe once every other week. Usually only happens when i'm driving a little too fast on the highway.
Now, I just dropped thousands on suspension and a new transfercase. Should I bother having my shop fix the 5th gear (which, along with labor and replacing some synchros & forks will cost me around $1000)?
The tranny itself gives me NO other problems. Will this problem get substantially worse? Should I suck it up and spend more money?

Yep, it only happens in 5th, and when I'm usually driving pretty hard (not even every time, at that..). I went all over the place yesterday and stabbed the gas in 5th at 40mph, 50, 60, 90, etc. Could not get it to vibrate. I also eased into the throttle at those speeds and again, couldn't get it to throw the code.
