Yeah, but off the shelf turbos didn't become off the shelf turbos because they didn't work well. I'm interested to see what the CBRD turbo will do. One of my best friends loves to create his own turbos, and they work damn well.

I feel the same way. I used to have a 3071 on my car and did not like the on/off nature of the spoolup. I much prefer the 50 trim's slightly more progressive spoolup ... the fact that it starts to spool earlier doesn't hurt either.

Thanks for the test Chad.

What turbine housing did the 50trim have in it?

I know that the 3076 car has the .82 4 bolt exhaust housing and I'm willing to bet the 50trim had a .63 (Possibly 5 bolt?)

This obviously would have a drastic affect on spool up.

Got the MAF you sent me btw.

Thx

you are correct..... but we havent seen HUGE changes in response with the .63 to .82 on a 50 trim. Most of it is peak hp.....

The issue mainly is, that most of these kits (with the exception to the BR kit) use an old ford style 5 bolt hotside, which I hate, because its all but impossible to get a larger turbine housing.

the interesting thing is, even with the smaller turbine housing (the 50 trim turbine wheel is larger though) i havent had to run any less timing.... i think its a balance of turbine wheel and housing size.

I think what is most interesting, is that this particular 50 trim was the HAFE/Slowboy manifold that people said was junk, and obviously it did well.... I would use it for road racing, since its cast, but I would have it extrude honed and swaintech coated.
