HAFE O2 housing problem

Alrighty, I have the HAFE manifold and O2 housing, and I am running solid engine mounts. My issue is that every 4-5 weeks the bolts for the housing to turbo back out. I have put a lil lock tight on the bolts, the the next time alot. I tried tightening the bolts until I thought they may strip. But still they back out. Is there a trick that people are using to keep the bolts tight? I am sure someone else has ran into this when using the solid mounts.

I'm guessing it's the material difference between the SS o2 housing and the cast iron turbine housing that causes the bolts to vibrate loose. I used these Nord-lock washers on my o2 housing to turbine housing bolts and they've yet to back off. There are several other local track junkie evo guys that have had success w/ these as well.

The size you want is M10.

Oh yeah, AMS includes these washers in their turbo kits too.

Well I have the standard lock washers on the bolts. I cant remove 2 of them from the housing now due to the insane tight clearance for the bolt to go into the hole.

Is there a replacement turbin housing that is V-band on the discharge side that is available seperately?

Standard lock washers aren't going to cut it. 2 local track guys had their bolts back out of their o2 housings, switched to the Nord-lock washers, and haven't had a problem since. The answer is right in front of you. You need to get in there and replace those lock washers.

I had the same problem with my mani to turbo bolts on my Buschur cast mani turbo kit and Nord-locks solved the problem.

OK bring back from the dead.

I bought those washers, I converted the turbine housing into studs instead of bolts, i used a ton of red locktite. And the housing has come loose again.

I need more ideas for a repair.

Try OEM Mitsu conical washers. We use them for all exhaust manifold bolts and nuts. Their shape keeps tension on the bolt or nut and we've never had an issue using them.

Man, something seriously weird is happening with your car. You can try some drilled head bolts and wire the heads to prevent them from backing off. I think there's a specific way to wire them together, and I know there's special pliers that properly tensions the wire.

Yeah you are talking about aircraft safty wiring. I have thought about it, but I wouldnt beable to wire the bolt closest to the block or the bottom bolt due to clearance issues. It was a PITA to change over to studs from bolts.

Hey Chris, you wouldnt know a P/N would you for those washers? Or are they just the same washers Mitsu uses on the factory exhaust manifold?

I have no advise only sympathy. I had the hafe manifold and 02 with my 35r kit and lost the 02 bolts all the time. Way to tight in that area to get them tight. Every time one would come loose i have to pull the whole f-ing set up out. Try a little of everything, lock tight, lock washers, lock whatever . good luck.

Yes, it's the ones Mitsu uses on exhaust manifolds. Use 2 per bolt/nut. p/n MR187848

What about castle nuts? Have you thought about those? You can use cotter pins to hold the nuts in place after tightening them.
