Hitting 350 whp
im trying to get about 350 hp to the wheels right now i just have a intake and exhaust IC LICP and a downpipe. im trying to get around 350 to the wheels im thinking about getting new fuel pump injectors and a fuel rail to go E85 hoping that will get me to 350. what do you guys think is the easiest way to get about 350 to the wheels?
DOs
- TBE with test pipe (A cat will start to starve your power above 330 WHP IMHO)
- MBC (You probably are running 91, so 21 PSI)
- Fuel Pump (A must have for any VIII, espically running >stock boost)
- LICP (Helps spool and adds a little power)
- Cams (Big power mod for a VIII)
- Meth injection (This is only if you can't make 350WHP with the above mods)
- Tune

- You don't need injectors right now (If you stay with pump gas)
- Don't need a fuel rail (" ")
- No UICP (It's just bling, but a shorter length ones might help throttle response)
If you are running 91 octane, this'll be more challenging, but nothing that can't be done. If you have access to an E85 station, you can do quite a bit more, but I'm not the expert on the stuff. Conversions have been done with nice results.

But you don't need a fuel rail or injectors unless you upgrade your turbo.

you have to change injectors for larger 1's due to needing more E85 than normal fuel. I wouldnt run it.
on a 03 evo 8 to get to 350awhp i would recommend the following:
10.5 hotside, intake, tbe (no cat), cams 272's, fuel pump, 02 housing, IC and IC piping, ported and coated exhaust manifold, evo ix "bov" and a tune. that should put you really close to 350 awhp if not more (assuming 93 octane).

Look if you want to hit real power with a EVO 8 stock turbo you have a few things your going to need.On a 03 and 04 turbo your going to need a 10.5 hotside for the turbo and since it's off you might as well add a o2 housing you said you have a downpipe so I'm going to assume 3" get a test pipe if your concerned with emissons law then get a e-cutout on a 3" y pipe. So now that your done with the exhaust. Cams are a must. With the new cams out there I would go GSC S1's, fuel pump, get a electronic boost controller(less headaches), APS twin vent BOV, do a boost leak test make sure you have no leaks take it to the shop you trust get it reflashed and I will put a grand on it that you will make if not your goal of 350 then 330whp. You can actually make more then that but you would need a FMIC and meth and you will see close to 400 depending on the tune.

uu umm. First off, just to clear things up, what kind of dyno are you going to be using? Because depending on that, u may need more/different mods.... I assume your NOT going to be using a Mustang dyno.......? Better off, what are your 1/4 mile / trap speed expectations?

There are new O2 dumps out. Instead of an O2 housing, I'd check out the stock turbo dumps as it will make a respectable amount of power per dollar, and sound amazing. Intake is up to you. Either do an open element filter or a panel filter but this is a whole other subject. You could also port your stock exhaust manifold or go tubular. I like tubular a lot, because it is the best thing for spool and power in that department, but if you go cheap they will most likely crack. Get what ya pay for. Could also consider an Evo IX turbo. So...

Errr wrong I have never heard of a boost controller hurting performance. I mensioned the APS twin vent cause hands down it's one of the best recir BOV's and it's priced is very good plus we all know that he is going to upgrade that turbo everyone does at some point. I said to get a EBC cause I don't know about you guys but I hate when it get's cold outside and I have to pop my hood and turn down the boost. Plus I prefer having a warning system that works and will reduce the boost if I spike.

Hell no tubular manifold I make 355 on 93 and that is on a censervative tune with the stock manifold
