Yes, loud consistent whine. I would suggest replacing asap, you don't want to starve your car for a $85 FP

No, this whine is VERY loud, it NEVER used to do this.. I even threw 2 codes.. A PO171 runing lean condition and the famos PO300 random misfire! Dont know if the codes are related to the FP.. And the car at WOT lately has been hesitating

The lean code should and the weird noise from the FP should have been the first sign that the pump should be replaced. I would do a fuel pressure test to see where your at, but I would definately plan on replacing that pump.

This is what i have been thinking this whole time. Car hessitating due to not getting enough fuel.. And the whine is audible even with the radio on and over the sound of my exhaust!

What happen to selling your car. Walbro will replace the pump for free if its bad. You pay for shipping both ways.

Double Walboro's, you wanna hear whine... haha!

Just because it's making more or less noise isn't a good representation of the pumps life. Just order one, have it there, then test the one you have, and return the purchased one if it tests out.

You could also have a dieing battery or a bad alternator (low voltage at high rpm = low fuel pump power) happened to myself way back when.

The only way to troubleshoot this is to monitor your fuel pressure. So either get a fuel pressure guage or simply replace the pump.

No fuel + boost = bad things.

Def. can't just go by audible warning as mine was on it's way out and it sounded like it did since i've owned the car.....QUIET.

However we had it on the dyno and it clearly was making the car run lean up top.

Popped in a new one and it was tuned w/o any problems.

Needless to say i was very glad to find out before beating on it at 34 psi at the track
