Boost problem

i thought i had a boost leak. you know when your car just isnt right and i know i've lost power. it doesn't pull nearly as hard as it did. if it was clutch slippage since im on a stocker it would be in low rpm. my boost gauge is peaking then dropping off about 4 psi. i have stock boost setup and a tune from buschur so i don't know what else to look at. i did a boost leak test and found my throttle shaft seal was leaking thats fixed and its still weak. i plan on doing another leak test tomarrow.... any other ideas though?

im hitting like 15 psi and drops to 11 in first
2/3 is something like 17-18 dropping to 14-15
4th hits 19 and drops to 15-16
and 5th seems to hold 19-18

should it drop off at all?
could it be a clutch? i know how a slipping clutch feels but it just seems like a loss of power throughout the whole power band

woah! ive never seen boost that low to begin with... u must have a leak somewhere... do u know if ur tune eliminated "boost error correction"

Install a primitive, Flintstoneseque, MBC device and increase wastegate preload by a few PSI.

If your boost drops to 11 PSI and there are no leaks, this means that you are running no WG preload whatsoever. 11 PSI is the minimum or "base" wastegate pressure. So, install a manual boost controller and shorten the wastegate actutator rod to "preload" the wastegate.

mind expanding on that.... why the mbc when it was hitting max psi just a few weeks ago... and what does the waste gat actuator do and could it have come out of ajustment or stick or somthing? cuz this was like a random problem. last how do i know how much to shorten. thanks

k did another leak test here we go again with boost slowly dropping off my gauge and its coming from my breather on my drivers side valve cover.

I've been searching cuz i've seen these threads a million times but still no good info. i don't know how to get the engine at top dead center so i may have done the test wrong. i did it with the upper icp on and found before this the tb seals were junk so i replaced them with the works kit thinking i'd be good to go and now another problem. what other things can i test and can cause this.

please describe in detail or maybe a link to do the tests properly thanks....

sounds like you are doing the test right. you are not going to hold constant pressure while doing the leak test. mine leaks very slowly from the same place. the key is to get a spray bottle with soapy water and spray it around the couplers to see if there are any leaks. you may have to add pressurize a couple of times to check all of the couplers.

as for your original post, have you checked that all of the vaccume lines to and from the stock boost control solenoid are not cracked and securely fastened (zip tied)?

i noticed that but i thought it should hold pressure so i'm lost i have no check engine light and no other boost leaks.... i've heard that it could be a blown out turbo seal how can i check that?

If you're tapering down to 11 PSI, then your WG is not preloaded whatsoever. The WG flapper valve is lifting off the seat at 11 PSI. The actuator rod is adjustable, so try shortening it by rotating the turnbuckle 2 full turns.

If you listen to sparky and adjust your waste gate in more to preload it. You can then find out if your car is running off wastegate pressure and if the problem still arises then it means your problem is else where and not the wastegate.

It would then mean you need to maybe try and switch out your stock boost solenoid with a friend with a evo maybe ? Its located right under the airbox bolted to the unibody. It has three vacuum lines running to it. One from the turbo inlet, then one from the wastegate and one from a vacuum source. So just follow the lines you'll find it.
