HTA sytle inlet came OFF. wow
Has anyone else had this happen to them. I bought this turbo brand new, its a real garrett turbo with the HTA sytle anti surge housing. So today i decided to take off my inlet to move my wastegate and found the freakin piece chilling in my INLET pipe LOL. Man im lucky my wheel is untounched. So im thinking of welding it on instead of the press fit
Pic of my turbo

and heres the freakin inside that came off

I was wondering why my car would not trap over 120mph and felt slower then usally.

Tial does NOT make the compressor housings.
FP is aware of the problem and is now pinning the anti surge section in place.
FP has been taking care of affected turbos for free.
I would suggest the OP give FP a call.

Another thread where the person posts up without any contact with the business. Why would someone do that? Just call whoever you bought it from, and have them replace the part. That's not rocket science.
I don't think the OP posted with any malice. I just think he was showing what happened to him, and asking if it happened to anyone else.
This is commen on the older housings. Contact FP or Tial the new ones are machined different.
Dont put the ported shroud on that turbo... it WILL surge like a ****.
**EDIT** I noticed the 1.8t head
... will you be the 1st for that turbo on the engine?

I dont think the guy is saying that he got the turbo from Forced Performance, and that is not an HTA turbo. TiAl has regular 35R turbos with the same style inlet as the HTA turbos, check out their site.
Ivan: We are not fixing any ole' turbos with messed up inlets for free. Just HTA turbos that we sold that had this problem (very small group of turbos actually). This guy needs to call whomever he purchased the turbo from so they can handle it.
You are correct about there being pins now to eliminate this problem.
