The latest turbo craze to hit the diesel performance market is compound turbos. Not twin turbos. Not sequential turbos. Compound turbos. A small turbo blows into a large turbo. This supposedly gives the best of both worlds. Quick spool up with the small turbo and max power with the large turbo.

Yes, I know these are diesels, but why wouldn't this work on, say, an EVO? Like maybe a GT25 blowing into a GT67?

 

I dont think there is enough room under the hood, plus the additional cost

 

It works fine, but the cost and expense and weight minimizes and scares people away from it, not to mention the fact that one properly chosen/sized turbo for your specific goals is probably going to be better in almost every regard.
