You can have a 2.3 run thru the traps at high speeds without huge rpm. But it will require at the least an upgrade to a 4.11 final drive. Which will add significant cost to ones build.

Of course all this considering that you are running a larger turbo , say 35R or bigger
this could exactly be my plan

added torque and longer gearing...Z06 terretory anyone???

with a 2.3 you will lose the ability to rev out 4th gear on the strip, but if you plan to run it on surfaces other than that of a 1/4 mile drag strip i'd take the extra torque and faster response over the extra 1500 rpm up top

As mentioned ten times already if its not meant for lots of drag racing with a bigger than 35r turbo then go with the stroker motor.

Im curious has anyone run a setup at stock displacement, had it dynoed, then stroked the motor and reinstalled all the same components? What is the actual increase in torque over the 2.0?

i highly doubt it... DB and AMS have gone through some extensive tests, but that wouldnt be worth all the labor IMO.

Wow guys thanks a lot for the feedback , yea I guess its all about what set-up you want and what you wanna do and I believe that the 2.0 or even a 2.1 would be a good choice for the 1/4 mile since you don't have to make any unnecessary shifts which make you lose valuable time.

But how about a good set-up for the 1/8?

Unless you're SERIOUS about drag racing, get the 2.3L. There is no point in gaining those few tenths with a 2.0, when the 2.3 is much easier (read: fun) to drive on the street. If I was in your shoes, I'd go with a 2.3L stroker and an HTA35r and call it a day.

Get ahold of Buschur or MEMO. They just finished Memos new build, he switched from a 2.2 Stroker to a BR Stage 3 2 ltr. Ask him what his opinions are. There arent going to be many better than him since he has driving experience with both set-ups.

once again what are your goals? pure drag machine where some ginormous turbo only begins to make power over 8k rpm? daily driver with the occasional run at the drag strip? dd with occasional track day? autocrosser? see where im getting? 2.3 can go to 8k rpm with care, is the turbo you are going to choose going to be efficient there or will it taper off before that level of rpm? will you ever use that rev range? do you need low end grunt or top speed?
You need the revs for the big turbo as they don't usually make good power until higher revs...then take that power all the way to 10K!

I drove my cousins 2.3 35R Evo and it was funner than a built single turbo Supra on the street. Evo had 420 awhp on pump and 23 psi. Supra had 750 rwhp on pump.

yeah i know that...kinda the point of the reply was to say if you get a big *** turbo then you are good but smaller turbos (read : streetable) they run out of breath at those higher rpms so its useless to have a rev range that high.
