S1's provide great power under the curve, check my profile for dyno results - great gains all around, fun street driven daily driver that doesn't have a lot of hiccups at all like some aggressive cams do.

And I'm on a stock turbo.

this graph is what sold me on the s2's an imperceptible loss of low end - for awesome top end gains.

damn. im in the same boat. updating the turbo soon(not green). i already bought my s1s awhile ago and the single valve springs and retainers. would I need to change the timing belt? I see people just throw " oh yeah change the timing belt " or " stock one will work fine. " The car recently hit 40k.

personally, i'd do the water pump, tensioner and belt while I'm in there at that mileage.

Mellon there are moment's when you dont do WOT pulls from begining to end. If you hit it from a mid point in the rev range , would the s2's still make as much torque as the s1's?

well brother i can tell you iam rinung 272's cossi cams on stock turbo and daily driven everything normal except i chose to get them tunned loppey,
but spoolup is amazing and ot to mention mid and top holly crap once we drove the car immediate noticeable mid top power and dynodynamics showed the powere gains from the powercurve moving to the right of the graph.

of course Jestr tunned the car

After reading the whole AMS cam test it seems like I would be best off with GSC S1's or the HKS 272's would be fine too,
that exactly why the reccomended are 272's ,,, you are looking for your powerband to move to the right "up top power" wont fall on its face after 6500 anymore

So you say HKS then? OR do you mean GSC S1s by what you said?

The S2s are very respectable on the graph posted, but it wasn't a stock turbo or stock head...so the result are very different from what you would otherwise see.

Cosworth 272's are somewhere in the middle...

I actually swapped out my S1's (average on stock turbo; weak when I put on my Green) for Cosworths, and saw immediate improvements throughout the powerband -- yeah, even the "amazing" midrange that the S1's are supposed to provide was nothing compared to the Cosworths (better torque, faster spool, more midrange, stronger top-end = no-brainer)
i'm also thinking about doing this. s1's on stock turbo was great but now with the fpgreen, i'm not too impressed.

Yeah but for those of us with stock turbo who plan to be there for a while, S1's may be the route to go. Although it seems like most of the 272's would work well.

I ordered my S1s from JSC Speed yesterday. There is a two week wait from GSC for the S1s due to the high demand. I was offered the S2s has an alternate, but that would have involved me changing out the valve train internals. I called around to different companies, but nobody has S1s in stock so I am in a holding pattern until GSC manufactures some more.

the differences in s1 and s2 are likely going to be the same at X rpm whether you started there or went through there.
