VII/IX 20G vs GSC S1

I have an '05 so I have the 10.5 hotside, but the 20G is still a big step up. Do I go for GSC S1's and a retune? Or do I go for the 20G and a retune?

Mods are in sig (in a seecond they will be, just realized they aren't yet!)

i would do cams before the 20g. no doubt...doesn't matter the mods...but again thats just my opinion. Just save a little more and do both at the same time.

If you don't have cams, I would get cams first. You are going to need them if you plan to run a 20g to get the full potential of the turbo.

Didn't think of it like that. Good point.

The test car wasn't stock turbo so gains wouldn't be the same. I did read the test and the results seemed great for what they were testing but it's not something I'm interested in yet. S2's seem great but not idea for a daily driven stock turbo car.

And people are having good luck with the S2's without upgrading the springs and all that? Where does the power shift to? I know S1 gives you a decent mid range jump with no loss on the low or high end. I haven't researched the S2's much. I know the AMS test had great results up top and not too much loss down low. I just looked at the graphs in that thread and it's MPH on the bottom, not RPM. How high are they revving?

high lift and upper RPM focused gains aren't for everyone all the time, and peak hp gains should not be the main focus of cams. he never said he's planning on adding a big turbo, and obviously it's quite the contrary. for the turbo he mentioned and from what i have seen, unless he primarily wants to drag race with a 20G, S1s would be a better choice.

i would first ask the OP what they want to get out of the car and what they currently like and dislike about the car

I drag race a couple of times a year but daily drive the car. I love the initial pull when boost hits but it feels flat afterwards. I'd like a little more power up top witout losing what I've got.

After reading the whole AMS cam test it seems like I would be best off with GSC S1's or the HKS 272's would be fine too,

i think that even with drag and upper RPM gains in mind, you still will like the S1s, especially the other 95% of the time when you are just enjoying the car on the street.
