I don't spin wrenches often and I'm not doing anything on my own car this time, Daniel and Steve are doing the service work, as usual.

Dave,

Where the o-rings meet, clip/file the wire at an angle on each side if you don't already do so. Might help, might not, it's worth a try.

bigturboevo8,
I'm not sure what you were implying, but I personally tore apart a motor built by AMS that had several things wrong with it that I noticed during disassembly. I'd say when you're building large quantities of engines, it's hard to make each and every one perfect. Everybody slips at one point or another. Hell, even I was nervous as I fired the motor up for the first time and all my clearances were right on.
If there was an issue, you should have took the car/motor back. I'm sure they would have helped you.

This is where a full suit and helmet come in handy.

Alright guys. I am respectfully asking you all to stop with where this is going now.

I sent a PM about the comment that was posted as I have no idea who bigturboevo8 is or what his problem is. I'd like it if the rest of you would take whatever issues you have to PM's too. I will straighten mine out with bigturboevo8.

As with any problem you should contact the company first, if you don't get satisfaction from doing that then do whatever you need to.

Moral of the story is it's a tough game making 600+ ponies out of a 2 litre. If you think you can write one check for 25k and have years of reliability, then I would respectfully disagree. Yes it's possible but the overwhelming likelihood is it will end up costing you much more.

All you hear on EvoM is success and you very rarely get glimpse at the failures behind the scenes. Remember every shop will do what it takes to hide any issues for fear of bad press.

Show me someone who has spent less than 25k and has a reliable over 600 hp Evo running for let's say longer than 18 months.

Yea, all the parts and labor to make 600+ (even on race gas), is over 25k. My build will make over 600 on race gas and it is right around 30k for just the parts I have on my car. That is not including the car or the labor.

When you get to these power leverls, you better be ready to shovel out the $$$. Buschur is pretty much the only one pileing these kinkd of numbers out consistently, with reliable cars, and I know these cars have over 25k into them.

But this power level, if you are serious, its not only about making 600hp, its becomes how do I get down the track the fastest. Then you have to start looking at things that reduce weight, better suspension for better launhing, better/lighter wheels and tires.

Yes, making 600hp is expensive, getting that power to the ground is when it gets VERY expensive.

I know what you mean. I just dropped 4k not including my Buschur bill.
I just got a Sparco Evo seat, new mounting hardware for my harnesses, fire suit and helmet, upgraded alternator, and a wingless carbon trunk (light weight ftw!)!

I am also shooting for 9.7-9.9 on race gas! I have a set of BFG Drag radials waiting for my stock rims to get back to me, so that should be helpful!

I went with the crowers. I was going to go with the groden allum. but since I still have college every day and my gf live 45 mins away, Dan told me to go with the crower because hes not sure if the grodens would be up to the task of that kind of a beating every day of the week.

Im hoping to have it back by the 23 or so, that way I can get all my new extras on and get used to it for a week. I want to run in the Import FaceOff, but no way am I going to get it back and go straight over and try for 9s. If Im forced to Ill be the slow one there on Pump with Meth. lol

I would agree. Doing a 600 whp build and making it as reliable as it can be is going to cost $20,000 or very close to it. That's no trick lightweight parts, that's just the build using parts that will not only make the power but hold up to the power.

celica2evo, I'd actually highly recommend running the car just on pump gas for awhile to get use to it. I think you are going to be surprised at what 500 whp feels like on pump gas let alone 600 on race gas. The car is a handful even at 500 whp.
