Is this a sign of bad things to come?-ic-pipe1.jpg

I was switching out my factory intercooler for a 3.5in AGP, and when I took the factory IC off I saw this on the turbo side of the IC. Looks like oil to me. Is this a bad sign or is this normal?

Ok I just finished reading about the Weapon R oil catch can on Evomoto. They give a pretty good explanation of whats going on.

It is normal but the preferred fix is to get a catch can.

I have read that a dual catch can setup is the real way to go... that being said, is the Weapon R oil catch can a decent way to keep oil like above from building up?

Yes its pretty much normal. Always run a catch can, at least on the IM side. Helps no matter what kind of car it is... look at the IM of a geo metro with 200K on it... not pretty.

Well all I see is the price tag on the Weapon R (very nice looking about 110 shipped) vs the DC3 (140 at most?). They seem pretty close in price, but if the DC3 does 10x the cleaning the Weapon R one does, it would be a no brainer choice...

I have the Saikou Michi DC3 Dual Catch Can. It is worth every penny knowing you are getting maximum protection. The craftsmanship is awesome. There is no better alternative.

I have one too, so I'll second this comment... I dropped mine in below the airbox around the BCS, I almost forget it's there.
