23.5 PSI with stock internals OK on IX?
23.5 PSI with stock internals OK on IX?
I had a tune done a while back that was set for 23.5 PSI on an IX MR.
Current MODS include:
Megan Catback
Megan Cat delete
K&N Drop In
MBC set to 23.5 PSI Peak
Walboro 255.
I have no internal work done. The Tuner also uploaded a more aggressive MIVEC Map.
Is this dangerous for everyday driving to work? I usually gas it to full boost in the 3,000 rpm range to quickly cut through traffic in the open lanes. Or should I loser the PSI down to 20-21 PSI? Been having bad dreams with the engine creating some sort of problems.
Im starting to think that 23.5 psi is pushing the limits with the stock turbo and feel that Its just going to be putting in a lot of hot air. Any input?

I read in a magazine article written by Dave Buscher himself that Pumpgas is the new race gas. Meaning that he was able to push boost to 29/30psi on pump gas in an evo. So "it's all in the tune"
You are right. It is all in the tune. Bryan at GST can get stock ECU IX's to run safely on 91 octane at 26 PSI+. So, I guess that given the same car, he could tune it to 28# on 93 octane.

You have NOTHING to worry about.
