The most important factor(s) to consider would be fueling/auxiliary injection and what boost levels that package will provide for safely and reliably. Every turbo has a peak efficiency range for boost level so you want to pick a turbo that suits both your power/spool/response goals but the reality of your boost situation as well.

Of the three you listed, a 50-trim is ideal for 20-25psi, a 58mm or 3076R for 25-30psi use and 35R for 28-35psi. Spool and maximum output potential varies significantly in this group so it's important to outline exactly how you want your EVO to perform after the turbo install. Within the Precision and Garrett lines you're able to relatively freely change sizes without any other changes in the kit if you change your mind later, but it's always easiest and least expensive to get it right the first time

Feel free to get a hold of me to discuss at any length!

The Precision PT61 used in our kits and being referred to in this thread is essentially a 35R equivalent manufactured by Precision. They share the same exact compressor wheel, with the turbine wheels being ever so slightly different between the Precision and Garrett turbos. They are both rated to 630hp and are both available in the same housing options

The eqaul length spool faster I take it. Whos running the economy with the 61? How is it? Does the wastgate dump to atmosphere?

I've experienced the Super Value 61mm BB kit personally and can say that overall performance is outstanding even when compared to its equal length counterpart, which is how the name came about The wastegate can either be dumped to atmosphere (included in kit pricing) or recirculated into the downpipe ($200 option). Both are pictured here:

Dumped Wastegate

Recirculated Wastegate

The theory behind improved spool, transient response and top end flow of an equal vs. non-equal length manifold is outlined in an article quoted straight from Garrett:

"Manifold design on turbocharged applications is deceptively complex as there many factors to take into account and trade off.

General design tips for best overall performance are to:

-Maximize the radius of the bends that make up the exhaust primaries to maintain pulse energy

-Make the exhaust primaries equal length to balance exhaust reversion across all cylinders

-Avoid rapid area changes to maintain pulse energy to the turbine

-At the collector, introduce flow from all runners at a narrow angle to minimize "turning" of the flow in the collector

-For better boost response, minimize the exhaust volume between the exhaust ports and the turbine inlet

-For best power, tuned primary lengths can be used"

Im sorry for the newb question again Tom. The pictures you listed on top is a 61 right... does that mean it is a 35 r? or what trim is that?

and also.... is the 58 trim surge really bad or what...?

Tom will tell you the 35r, he already went over it with me.
