MR OEM oil drain plug vs non-MR

Hi guys, do you know if the MR and non-MR oil drain plugs are the same? I know that the MR is 19mm on top, but I am not sure if the thread and size are the same. I want to use JDM magnetic oil plug, but they only offer for "regular" Evos. Any idea? Thanks.

I think the only diffrence in the MR drain plugs is that it has a sensor attached to it for the oil temp gauge.

Pretty sure the MR drain plug is larger. Believe non-MR uses 17mm.

I just bought an aftermarket oil temp gauge. Can I wire it to the stock sender? Any ideas?

probably the thread size is the same. if the jdm drain plug doesn't have an oil temp sender with it then you will loose your oil temp gauge.

I'm aware of the gauge and the sensor attached but I don't think its that accurate to begin with so I rather put magnetic plug instead. Has anyone with an MR done it?

I eliminated the factory gauges in my mr

I just bought a gsr drain plug and voila

iirc the mr drain plug needs a 19mm open ended wrench and the gsr is a 17mm socket or wrench

what is the easiest way to install the autometer oil temperature gauge in an MR? I have all autometer gauges, so I am replacing the stock MR Gauges with autometer ones? Should I go to the dealer and buy a drain plug then drill a hole in the plug to install the sender in?

I believe for an aftermarket oil temp gauge you can attatch the sending unit to the oil filter housing in one of the unused threaded holes. I think there is a how to on here somewhere?
