GT4294R preliminary results....

Was able to finally do some tuning on my car today on race gas. I know there have been several threads in the past year or so about the 70mm 42R, not too many people run the baby 42R for whatever reasons. So far I have seen ~30psi or so to only be 500rpm give or take later than a 67mm turbo but the turbo is making a lot more power up top. Heres the run down:

AutoLab built 2.0L engine 9:1 CP/Crower
BC +1 valves
BC 288* cams
AutoLab custom intake manifold w/ 70mm tbody
AutoLab custom exh manifold
Tial housing 70mm 42R
Tial bov and 60mm gate
AutoLab custom / Garrett core based FMIC 24x12x3.5
Precision 1200cc inj, Full Blown hanger, twin modded Walbros
Autronic SMC PnP board, modded for direct fire
Autronic 500R ignition box w/ CBR coils
Exedy HD twin disk clutch

On pump gas & 18psi (quick street tune) it did 505whp, I know it shows less but the sheet is only scaled to 8k and I rev to 9200.

On C16 and our first 33psi run it did 756whp

then we had some break up issues that we traced down to the plug on cyl #3 is actually coming loose in the head. This head has a helicoil insert on #3 thats going to either need to be redone or a timesert installed. After this we called it a day. I wanted to put the car in or around 42-45psi but that will have to wait I guess.

Pics of the setup

this car is driven on the street, my son loves it and it has full interior, p/s, and a/c

Hows' the rev limiter at night with that hood vented wastegate?

A/C and a GT42, so do you know your local law enforcement authorities on a first name basis yet?

the wg dump will put out a good size fire ball on 2step, the sound is really nice on full kill on big boost.

also, forgot to mention, before the haters start in on the #s i realize they are on the high side for the setup/boost levels. Probably in the 50-60whp range but at the end of the day dyno #s don't win races. tuning a 42R car on the street is just plain stupid, you would kill someone. I used this shops awd dyno as a tuning tool and nothing more. I personally own a Dyno Dynamics dyno (2wd) so I know all about the never ending dyno # argument. 42R cars on big boost are going to make plenty of power, so as long as the dyno is used as a tool then you dont need to worry about anything else.

that's strong as hell..congrats. I've been thinking about the 42r, so I appreciate that you shared your results. 33psi and 750+awhp is pretty awesome...it looks like the power was about the same until 7000+ Shifting at 9k you'll land back into the power so it should scoot on down the track pretty good.

That's just crazy to have an evo with a gt42 for a daily driver. I like the way you think

mellon, the car is a lot more responsive on the street. It makes 33psi by 6200rpm. the car is very streetable for as big as the turbo is.

evocrazy, the manifold is my design. I built the engine, fabricated the turbo system and intake manifold and tuned it.

thanks for the compliments guys, the hood vented wg dump gets a lot of response on the street too I'll try to get a pic or a vid of it from in the car at night.
