HKS 272 or GSC S2

Ok so I have a bit of a problem...first off I accidentally ordered two different sets of cams, haha. dont ask. anyway I have a buschur turbo back, intake, intercooler, intercooler piping (upper and lower), and an HKS EVC at 24#, walbro 255, and I am getting tuned at AMS in Chicago on monday morning. OK so heres the problem, which cams would be better for my situation? I now have a set of HKS 272's and a set of GSC S2's. I plan on upgrading turbos in a few months to possibly an HTA35r or something similar with the supporting mods, and I dont really care about poor driving conditions at lower rpm's. I would still like as much power as i can get out of these cams with the stock turbo that i am currently running which is an evo 8, i just dont want to lose too much with these aggressive cams. I also have a set of beehive springs from GSC that i will be putting in also. Thanks for any help you can offer.
P.S. I need to put a set in tomorrow or Sunday at the latest becasue I need to have this thing on a trailor Sunday night and ready to drive about 5 hours. Again thank you for the help.

Dustin

I have the GSC S1's myself and they have been awesome for the last 2 years... I only hear good things about the S2's.. everyone knows about HKS and their reputation. I don't believe you have a hard choice.. Whichever one you choose, let me know, I might take the other set off you if you want to sell... GL

Both are good I believe AMS did a Cam test comparing these exact cams against each other.

also you could give them a call and see what they say.

Thanks for the quick replies guys! I have called a few shops around the country like AMS GSC and Buschur However I am still a little confused on which would have a better balance of power both right now with the stock turbo and also with the new turbo. I looked at the AMS cam test and the results definitely show that the GSC S2's shine but Im still a little nervous becasue of my rather modest setup...

On another note I would have rather ordered the S1's from GSC but it seems everyone is all out and they dont ship again till after my tune date on monday.

Also i have heard decent things as far as HKS but I couldnt find anything with an indepth description for a car around my mods. Obviously I want the most power that i can get right now with this tune but i strill wanna look into the future...becasue i dont want to come up short now or later. Haha i guess im just trying to get the best of both worlds and I know thats not always possible, so thanks again guys. I will def post up results with whatever I choose, just because it doesnt seem like to many people with modest mods post up there failures or success...so i will post up with whatever happens haha.

This may not help since you are wanting to decide before monday, but if you are wanting some s1 cams, I'll trade you mine plus some cash for your s2's if you are interested. Just thought I'd throw it out.

used for about 5-7k miles, so I would include some money with them, but no problems at all with them, just looking to go bigger since I'm upgrading the turbo. Idle is like stock and midrange is crazy. And as far as time, I could probably take my car to the shop and have them taken out in the mail by Tuesday or Wednesday. Let me know what you think. Thanks

s2's, i love them. The idle is sweet and i'm making 351/340 on a stock 9 turbo. it will be a whole new car with these and i still have great low midrange. Wouldn't bat an eye to do it again.

drop me a PM if you decide to part with one of those sets of cams... I live closer to AMS than anyone on here, and could scoop them up potentially on monday

I also have a set of BC 272s...

Wow, look at the curves on that AMS testing thread! The S2's blow away the HKS 272's. I've only ever had S1's and they definately were awesome cams.

Check out the Sept 08 turbo magazine. They did a cam test on a evo comparing over 8 different cams!
