Short shifter vs upgrading the bushings to the stock shifter

Just wanted to tap your knowledge: can you recommend a short shifter, and or should I just replace the bushings to the stock shifter!

I'm looking to do some auto-crossing and some road racing, car is also a daily driver!

thanks for the info

I dont have a short shifter, so I can't tell you how much of an improvement it is.

Shifter bushings was actually my favorite mod until I got my rims. It changed the entire feel of the shifter action, made it firm and seem much more controlled. The shift action felt sloppy and cheap with the stock bushings, after installing the aluminum bushings it is way more refined.

Easy install also, maybe 20 min DIY if your dilligent.

I've had my polyurethane bushings (both for the shifter and linkage) for a while now and they vastly improve the shifting. I have just ordered a short throw shifter and will be installing that as soon as it comes in. Mine only cost me ~$60 and that was for the shifter and the replacement parts for the shifter assembly.

I have both B&M short shifter with Greddy counterweight knob and Solid Brass bushings.
Really feels great when shifting, nice and crisp.

bushings from Buschur.. I had the Kartboy short shifter in first, but didnt like the throw on it, so I took it out and was about to install a Perrin when I thought why dont I just change out the bushings.. It ended up feeling so good that I sold the Perrin too.. It was my favorite mod.. GL

Which specific bushings are needed? I mean there are so many to get, just shifter bushings, under the hood, or rear diff or all?

I'm interested in this mod too. I've heard good things about the B&M shifter, can anyone else give their opinion on it?
