Half of a shops' prices come from what they charge for labor. Just look at the receipt they give you and you can see the break down.

I had my 15,000 mile service done for $245 total at the dealership in Irving. TX. The dealer in my city was quoting $315 total......And so I decided to take a 30 minute drive to the other dealership.

I see you are in VA. Contact VIP tuning in Sterling, VA. They have a 30k mile service package for $275.

Did your dealer's 15K service include transmission fluid changes? If so, you got a pretty decent price.

The closest dealership near me in Erie, Pennsylvania does the 30k tune up for $300 + tax. I don't think they replace the spark plugs though.

When looking at the cost to buy all the fluids, filters, and parts myself, I come up with around $225 in parts. To me, the ~$75 I'd save from doing it myself just isn't worth it. I'll pay someone else to get dirty, bang their knuckles, deal with disposing of all fluids, etc. for $75. LOL

Mine quoted me a a whopping $570 for a 30K service!!! An apparently they will change the drive belts (Serpentine?) at 30K - sounds like B.S. as that's not recommended by Mitsu till 60K. And it includes changing the cabin air filter (which cost me $50 seperately).

I'm doing it myself... just like at 15K... it takes a few hours but I ain't spending $600 for sure - you guys in VA seem to have cheaper dealers

Sorry didn't see your question until just now. Obviously I'm with the 101st since I have the dragon of the 101st patch.

you can prolly save 50-60 % of that cost if you did it your self.

our testing was done at 9200 miles on my persoal evo 9 and all the gunk that was trapped inside the intake manifold and TB was amazing, so imagine inside you combustion chambers and valves , we reccomend for preventive maintenance you do a 3 stage Wynn's fuel system cleaner, alot of evo guys are doing it and results are amazing,

check out our threads for info, or pm me for info.

Do your own labor. you'll save money. Dont put that redline diff fluid in. Redline in the diff will feel harder.

use diaqueen for the diff fluid.

If yer gonna spend this kind of money on a car don't skimp on the maintanance. I was just quoted $600 as well. If you spend 40K on a car then wtf is $600 bucks?

I can't beleive I'm hearing people b!tch about the cost of maintenance. If that's the case then maybe you shouldn't have gotten an Evo.

Yeah, that's right. I bumped a thread nearly 4 years old. :P

...umm how are people skimping? Just cause some people know how to do their own work or take the time to learn how to instead of getting raped by labor charges at dealerships doesnt mean they're skimping. So you can go ahead and pay 600 bucks while others do it themselves for a third of the price.
