Automatic transmission for Evo VIII
I think this is a good idea. Hell, I love my evo to death, and love to drive stick..but sometimes I just wish it was auto during heavy traffic/late at night. Some women just find it annoying. I'd love to know if this is possible; keep us posted.
i want an evo 8 and was about to buy one when i found out that the US version doesnt come automatic..im in a wheelchair by the way so i need an automatic for the time being..my question is this does canada have them in automatic? if so how hard would it be to get it registered in florida anybody with info on this please feel free to call me on 347-845-4583 thanks
Yes, the outlander transmission is the same and will work with the 4g63. It doesn't have the awc or some feature that the evo has, but it does work, you'll just have to find a wiring harness and ecu to control it. Personally, I would import a front clip from the auto one from japan if possible.

Philly Evo - It has been a little over a year since you were trying to find out about swaping an Auto Trans into an Evo VIII. Wondering if you and Buschur ever did this or was it to much $$$ to do and you dropped the idea all together.
Personally I think, if it were done correctly, that you would end up with a lot less transmission problems and would have a car that would ET much more consistently, awesome 60 ft. times, need less maintenance, and would be a blast to drive on the street, at the same time a great cruiser when you wanted to relax a little.
Thanks - Bob
