Mobil 1 Extended?

Is anyone using the Mobil 1 Fully Synthetic Extended Performance oil?

I'm wondering if that would be better to use than the regular synthetic...still changing the oil every 3,000 -3,500 miles.....any takers?

Thanks Evo Community

Since on this subject, it seems most all use the recommended Mobil 1 for oil (I'm fairly new to this forum so excuse me if there are other threads on the subject). Although expensive, I've always used Redline products for my long term keeper cars. Anyone ever use Redline in their EVO?

I use it in the Evo and the regular Mobile 1 in my other cars. I haven't noticed any difference at all (except the price), and I always change every 3K miles at the most.

Mobil is the way to go. Recommended as OEM, and easily picked up anywhere. YOu dont need the extended crap...I believe they're all the same. BTW, you can pick up 5 quart jugs at department stores for like $25.

Just stick with whats recommended on the oil cap. Mobil 1 EP states that its been tested and approved for up to 15,000 mile commutes, but what's the point of paying that extra if you're just going to change every 3000-3500 miles?

unless you beat the crap outta your car, i.e. redlining all the time...i mean alllll the time, you don't need to change your oil every 3000. There is plenty of evidence of this that can be easily found. Especially with the new oils and newer technology in engines.

Obviously there are exceptions to this with maybe very high HP engines....but the majority of us don't fall into that category.

I have also read/heard about this. I remember an oil specialist saying oil techonology has advanced so much that you need to change the oil filter before changing the oil. However, the oil in our engine is also circulated through the turbo, so I dont recommend using it for more than 3k miles. Turbos break oil down very fast.

I use to use the "regular" mobil 1 synthetic and after changing it every 3000-3500 miles, the oil seem used up and dark. I shifted using "extended performance" mobil 1 synthetic and even at every 5000 oil changes, it looks better than the regular synthetic. After reading the product label, it says it has more supersyn and additives that is why it can last 15000 on a NA car.

that's a pretty silly way to determine how well an oil is working

for $22.50, this is well worth the investment http://www.blackstone-labs.com/

I ran 10k change intervals on my 1.8T Jetta and with Amsoil 5w40 euro due to lab reports from this company saying I could.

Since I haven't read the E.P. syn's label...and as you stated your using that oil plus you read the label....I'm assuming it is just a 'Higher Grade' synthetic...making it better to use versus just the regular mobil 1 synthetic.

How long has it been that you've used the EP version?

dude, don't listen to him. if you're going to change your oil every 3k miles anyway, and the extended life version costs more, just save yourself some $$ and stick with regular M1.

if it were me, I'd run 5k intervals on regular M1... but you seem to be a bit more paranoid.
