HELP!!! EVO Stalling out then locking up while driving

My evo has a problem... it starts to stall out then the steering locks up while im driving and its really hard to turn. From what I see before it happens my rpms drop and all the dash lights light up. Sometimes i can avoid it by pressing the gas pedal to keep the rpms from dropping to much. It happens alot when im dropping down a gear and turning. My friend said it could be the timing but im not sure.

My mods are:
Cosworth M2 272's
Supertech valve springs
ARP headstuds
GM Boost Solenoid
Walbro 255
AEM Short RAM
TBE

maybe your power steering pump is seizing up... I would stop driving it and have it towed to a good shop tomorrow.

I dont think its thats. I think it might have to do with the cam timing or something because the rpms drop then i starts to stall out so it loses power and thats when the steering wheel gets hard to turn because its power steering -_-

how long has it been doing this and what was changed just before it started happening?

What BOV do you have and is it recirculated?

well check the timing, put the crank pully at TDC with a 22mm socket or 1/2 drive (its marked), take the plastic cam gear cover off and check the timing marks on the cam gears, they should line up with 2 notches on the valve cover. if you don't want to do that, I would not drive the car anymore, take it to a shop that knows what they are doing.

Are you tuned for your cams and other stuff?
