Is My Oil Supposed To Be This Dark?!

a little while ago i changed my oil(which was mobil 1 fs), i barely put 3000 on the oil saw that it was pitch black, so i thought mobil must suck. So i changed to Eneos 5-30 and i just changed it with again after barely 3000 miles and the oil was pitch black again....is this normal? if not...wths wrong?! thanks fellas..

btw i use mitsubishi oil filters..

The oil will turn dark. Feel it to see if it's broken down (feels thin). When I change my oil at around 2.5-3k it's pretty dark. If the oil feels thin it's time to change it.

I usually change my oil at 1500 miles, and its not pitch black, but still dark though.

I have always heard that if it isnt dark, change your oil brand because it isnt doing its job. It is dark in color, because it also cleans the engine.

Not letting your car idle right after a beating will cook oil.

I don't ever pay attention to the color coming out. I am only worried about consistency and whether or not it is frothy.

Trying to discern the quality of the oil by color/feel is absurd. The only real way to tell is by doing a UOA.

If you change your oil every 3k miles with Mobil 1 Synthetic 10w30 and with a genuine Mitsu filter, and it's dark - thats a good thing. That means the oil is cleaning as well as lubricating.
