Your thoughts about this combo on cams....

I know there is probably a thread out there about cams shaft but I just need to get quick answer. I made a bid on eBay for an HKS cam gear and 264/272 (intake/exhaust) cam shaft. Is that a good combo?

I'm no guru. I do know that most will tell you they performed the worst on the ams cam test and so thats what they are. I think its a decent setup. gl!

Depends on what you call worst. The had the best idle and where only slightly down on horse power. I have the 272/272 combo, I can't understand why you would want to go 264/272. I personally like the cams alot and if you buy cam gears you can adjust your power band anyway.

272's on both intake and exhaust would be much better

I hope you do know that the car AMS had the cam test on was fully built with a turbo kit. the HKS's will perform much differently on a stock turbo

Well, I was thinking of 272/272 but it was a combo that has 2 cams and 2 camshaft. I made a bid for $500 and I'm currently the high bidder so it depends if I win or not. I suppose if I didn't win, that'll be great so I can get the 272/272 combo in the near future. But if I do get it, I'm sure it'll at least run better than stock.

264/272 is a nice street set up. It'll give you a decent amount of torque with a good tune.

FYI the HKS did not perform the worst. They are a good cam but like everbody said do 272/272 you will not be dissappointed

Crap Lets hope somebody outbids me If not, I'll have to get a 272 intake cam shaft. I don't plan on doing it until I hit 60K miles so I can do the T-belt, balance belt and water pump at the same time.
