I'm so sick and tired of all the hype and BS i get from having a that friggin exhaust for the streets. I want to slap the stock cat back on that car so I dont have to deal with the BS anymore. Obviously I cant just put the stock piping into a 3 inch down pipe so Id have to do that whole thing. With my mods, how much am i expecting to lose? I dont have much time for the track this season which is a shame so downgrading doesnt sting too much.

 

The stock Evo exhaust is not that bad to be honest. You may loose a little up top but I dont think it will be dramatic. I say give it a shot, maybe toss in a test pipe.

See if you can find a used stock cat back and then get a e-cutout

 

you can fit a 3" downpipe to the stock catback,

then just get a cutout

i ran a 12.6 with the stock cat-back, and i will be shooting for 11s on pump with an upgraded turbo.

the stock cat-back is not that bad. The biggest improvements are seen with the Downpipe and Cat.

 

Danimal's IX daily driver hits 11s with a Downpipe Testpipe and exhaust cam on race gas. Sounds like a whooosh going down the strip.

edit: also i feel your pain. I've been battlling law enforcement over exhaust issues for a couple years now. Every magistrate refuses to rule whether the exhaust is legal or not. They finally got me with the last charges - not because of the exhaust, but because i admitted i had an exhaust leak, which just happens to fall under the same ruling 90-16.

I was bull**** after having to fight multiple times, and then having them finally get me on a technicality... so i just gave in, and swapped out the cat-back to stock.

 

i dont see how so many people have a problem with the popo and exhaust. the cops around me are brutal, but i never have trouble. straight thru 3 in w/ no muffler along with an open dump!

I get pulled over alllllllllllllll the time. I rarely bring my car over 3 k rpm so its not like its screaming, I generally get away with it because i tell them its a fully functional set up that my FATHER AND I put together which is true. It is my car but my father enjoys it just as much. My father is 50 so when i bring him to court and he says its his car the ticket goes away... but they pull him over and its no hard time at all, i get pulled over and they act like im some punk that just likes a loud car which isnt at all true lol. I have SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOoo many equiptment citations.

I just wanna have the car to be able to drive where ever i want with no worry without killing the car. I wasnt sure if it was going to mess with my tune or anything.

and MA state troopers are god awful. I got a criminal citation a month ago for something I had NOTHING to do with... my freinds were flyinnnggggg in a cobalt, s4 racing an s2000. some lady called in i guess so when we got off the highway we all got stopped and I was the only one triggered for street racing. now i have a summonds to court.... how much does that suck lol I had just switched drivers with my freind when i got off the beach exit too. I also got a left lane violation for going to slow near the hampton exit which was like 10 miles away from where my freinds were racing lol I guess the cop spotted me doing that and yet i didnt even see him! i was just driving slow cause its how i drive lol i was just cruising along with the music on!
