Cam advice needed...

Hi Guys,

I'm about to order some cams for my car, hope you can help me with the right choice...

Some mods on the EVO7:
2.0L Forged
AMS GT3076R / .63 / 4" inlet
AMS 3" exhaust
AMS Fuelrail
Precision 880cc injectors
MoTeC M800
AVC-R @ 1.85 (Boost peaked recently 1.94 @ Dyno), still need to map a bit higher 2.0 - 2.1 bar

The cams I'm after are either GSC S1 or S2...

Thanks for any advice...

Ben

Thanks for this...

I've been offered cams, lash adjusters and Fidanza pullies, is this the valvetrain upgrade you suggested?

No you dont need pullies, i think you need the lash adjusters. But the valvetrain upgrade is springs and retainer, they go for about $200-$350. Good luck with the S2, i wanted some but didnt have the money at the time so i got the BC 272.

Since I'm looking into this I also read that the S2 version of the cams are suited for GT35 and above (source @ GSC site), now I'm in doubt, is there any comparison between those 2 on a GT3076, trying to get the best setup here for my mods...

Ben

PS read the AMS test with much interest, but they used the GT35R also in their tests...

S2's do work well with smaller turbos, look at the results people have made. I have a friend with FP Green making good #'s with S2's.

I have S2's w/ a T67, I love them over my HKS 272s. DEF. go S2's, You WILL need Upgraded Valvesprings and retainers.

You don't need lash adjusters or pullies.... you just need a good set of valve springs and retainers... I would recommend getting the Supertech Dual springs, ti retainers, ti seats, and specific smaller 8.8 valve seals..

Good luck man.. and Stick with the S2's if you want to make power and keep great spool (: the s1's are weak sauce IMO for that size of turbo..
