You might not have it on right. Mine kept doing that then i found that i had the part where the Axle Back bolts up on the wrong side of the Exhaust Hanger. It hasnt slid off again and its been over a year.

no i have mine hooked up correctly. but i did just order the slip-fit test pipe from buschur, and when i swapped it in, i realized that it was shorter than my old cat. i had to re-adjust the lenghts for the entire exhaust system to compensate for the shorter test pipe. (everything worked great yesterday.

btw, i used that $5 O2 cel fix thats on here, it couldnt be working better.

im going to look into getting the exhaust welded tomorrow, i want a full weld all the way around the pipe, not just spot welds.

I would see if you could get grooved V-bands in there if you want reliability and perfect alignment.

Slip fits like are just the cheap way to do it. It typically works well and can be lighter though, so they are not all bad.

had the same problem with the buschur band clamps. Took it to Midas who charged $60 total to weld the high flow cat and magnaflow.

i just dropped my car off at virginia auto repairs, not only would they weld a cat-less system, but they were the cheapest, $75. i'll be picking it up tomorrow, im so excited, i cant wait to drive it hard again, ive been baby-ing it so much lately. btw, i love the sound this exhaust makes without the cat, it sounds mean as hell.

also, i was just wondering if anyone knew if the bullet or the magnaflow muffler was louder/throatier? i just cant get over how good my buddies mustand sounds (it sounds good, but its slow as hell)

ok so in closing, i get a call from the welder (who is also a mechanic) and you can always tell when someone has no experience dealing with modified cars. he tells me that he thinks my exhaust is leaking around the flange from the downpipe to the testpipe.

ok, he might be right, but if thats the case, then its been leaking this whole time ive had the exhaust installed, and if said leak did exist, it has never affected my performance, and i have never thrown a cel.

he tells me that whenever there are exhaust leaks like that, the likelyhood of the car throwing a cel increases. now, im not running an O2 simulator, i just have that $5 spark-plug non-fouler spacer thing, and its always worked just fine.

he said he could have a custom gasket made up in an hour, and installed for only $25 more, now, im not one to turn down a good deal, because thats not a bad price for a gasket matched to the pipe, but it just seemed like he was calling me every $30 minutes trying to nickle and dime me with different parts and services, and i know my car, i know what it needs and what it doesnt need. all i asked him to do was weld...

i hate leaving my car in other peoples hands...

is anyone using a 3in gasket on these things where the DP and the TP/CAT meet?

Yeah I am on the down pipe that came with my turbo kit to my Turbo-XS test pipe to a Greddy Racing Ti. I have gaskets between ALL flanges. I cant imagine anyone not.

Did I misunderstand you?

this thread is about the buschur slip-fit exhaust system, specifically welding it together to prevent leaks, and the future possibility of a leak.

my previous question was in regards to the only flange on this particular system that would need a gasket (ie: where the DP and the TP/CAT meet)

First off, there was a lot of thought that went into the exhaust, that's why it is the lightest turbo back you can buy for your EVO and produces the most power.

Now that I have cleared that up. Obviously this problem doesn't happen often, if it did you'd read about it time and time again on these forums. We've sold well over 1,000 EVO exhausts.

The clamps we supply need to be tightened. Tightening them by hand with a 3/8" ratchet doesn't cut it. You need a very strong impact, 1/2" drive, and when you tighten the clamps the clamp actually forms to the tubing. It will NOT come apart, no way in hell. If you don't tighten it properly then that is not the design of the exhaust, it is installer error.

Also, if the offroad pipe you ordered was shorter than the cat, you should have called rather than putting the wrong length part in and then making a thread complaining about how out slip fit joints and clamps "needed more thought" put into them.

The phone is your friend. Next time you have a problem with one of our parts just pick it up and call us. We'd have made a new pipe and sent it out to you.
