Has anyone removed the under panel?

I am wondering if anyone has removed the under panels that cover up the lower front of the car. It gets annoying having to constantly take them off to work on the car. Is it safe to remove these things or not?

Thanks
Chris

I would'nt do it. Its probably no big deal, but I would think it would cause some kind of vacume under the engine bay and hinder the hot air from being sucked out the hood vent. Just my $.02.

why would you want to take it off? the plate is there for a reason, to protect the underbody of the car from road crap. i think that is a great feature of the car and there are a lot of people who pay money to put that on their car.

It feeds cooling air to the brakes, it also reduces drag at highway and above speeds and in general creates a pressure differential to help evacuate hot air through the hood vent. It won't affect handling or high speed stability too much. Though at a race track it might. You could just use quick release clips instead of all the screws.

I cut mine in two. I was able to do it in a way that it now only requires a few screws to get at the jacking point.

It has worked well so far. I had it at the track and was at about 115mph in the straights.

Jacking point ???? I had mine off for a while - no problems - however - it is faster at high speeds with it on !!!!!!

I removed mine after doing the first oil change and changing out the exhaust. I haven't put it back on because the amount of screws is ridiculous. it's also a pain everytime you want to change the oil.

Buschur took theirs off the day they got it I think, and haven't put it back. I'll probably put it back on for the winter, but right now it's fine.

Why is it a pain to change the oil? You can get at the drain and the filter with it on.
