question for the tuners and fmic makers!

At what point do you guys see noticeable power gains in relation to dropped IATs? In other words what's the number that you can start making changes in the tune for the colder temps? A few degrees....5....10....more?

Generally, a 10 degree reduction in AIT will not make a marked difference in detonation suppression assuming the tune is not on the "ragged edge." A 20 degree drop will begin to allow more room in boost/timing adjustment without knock.

Lucas of English Racing recently tuned a 67mm EVO on our dyno with the Ebay replica intercooler which peaked AITs at the top of a pull in the 140 degree range. After installing our 4" intercooler there was a 60-70 degree drop in temps, and a 100whp+ improvement found in a retune on race fuel. This is obviously a relatively extreme example but it illustrates the gains on a large scale to be had from an efficient intercooler that is very resistant to heatsoak!

Haha, it was our standard 4" core on this car Nick, but I know how you feel about your 4" wide-tank
