Cracked Titlon cerametallic disk

So I was going over my photobucket pictures and just happened to notice some with the tilton disks. The cerametallic disk is cracked between the pucks. Since I keep just about everything I went downstairs and looked at the disk... sure enough the crack is between just about every puck and they are from 1/2"- 1.5" long. Im not sure if this is normal but I think this might have been the cause for the crappy drivability for the last few months before I tore the car apart.

Has this happened to anyone else? Does tilton knows this happens? Ill be writing them an e-mail tonight.

Heres some pics, sorry for the crappy quality

EDIT: Come to think of it, the pressure plate was over-extended quite a few times.

Yeaah my quarter master did this but I know for a fact it was from over extension...I didnt have a stop installed for the clutch peddle...lasted about 20,000 miles with lots of preloaded drag passes and the discs looked pretty damn good but it lost its holding capabilities due to the cracks alowing the disc to flex...I am very cautious to not over extend know...give it just enough push to enagage and disengage smoothly.

At least you had a similar problem. Makes me not as worried, thanks. When I first put it in I didnt need a stop since the pedal was perfecrtly positioned without one. Looks like Ill have to readjust the new clutch with a stop.

If you didnt know titlon is a clutch that has to be inspected every so often to check for plate specs and stress cracks.

Good luck with titlon im sure they will say what they always say its time for a new plate.

After having driven the car w/ the QM twin i too notice that it doesn't take much to disengage/engage the clutch and am also afraid of what you just explained.

I adjusted it a couple times but will that help alone or do i need to come up with some sort of stopper

Please explain.......
