Head Gasket Blown...
So I took my car to the dealer to have it checked out for the overheating issue, they said its a blown head gasket. Does anyone know how much it will cost to get that fixed? The guy I talked to was working on the estimate, and he said maybe about $2000, that he would call me back and give me an exact price... Before I get that call, can anyone give me an idea of how much its gonna cost?
I appreciate any info. Thanx

From the dealer, i wouldnt be suprised if cost $2000, I would check prices from reputable shops in your area that have evo experiance, you should get a better price there.
EvolutionDynamics in dallas texas said about $500 for just a stright head gasket replacement. Its a long trip fro you, but just thought I would give you information. PM KevinD on here for more info if you want.

For sure you need to check and machine the head if nessary before just swaping it out. The $500 was just the labor involved in the swap, the machining etc is up to you.

It's not too hard to get the head off/on yourself, if you have the tools and a little bit of know how. The hardest part, in my opinion, is getting the intake manifold off. Other than that it's pretty easy, just time consuming. Make sure they use new headstuds or get ARPs.

dude, that blows, im really sorry to hear that. an alternative that you might think about, and im not saying that this is 100% safe, but we did it on my buddy's f150 and it was a temp solution to the problem.
we used something called "liquid glass" and from what i hear its what alot of drag cars use if they need just one more run out of the car, it seals up the insides of the motor (ie: all the deformities) and it wears off over time, but if for some reason you just dont have the money, you could inquire about getting this done...?

How did you blow the HeadGasket? You upped the boost recently? changed your tune? are you tuned?
Actually... I think the problem has been a long time coming, I have like 96K miles on the car and I used to race all the time... But I think what did it in, was the HTA35R installed and not tuned for a week. But I'm getting everything that I need done right now. The head is getting resurfaced and pressure check, along with the Valves getting resurfaced. I told them to put in the ARP head studs that I have been neglecting to put in. Its coming out to 2082.17, I got a military discount. It should be done by Tuesday next week.
But I have been having a problem with the HTA35R, I installed a manual boost controller, and it still wont regulate the boost. I have it set at 15 psi till I finish the tune, but my gauge keeps telling me that its set at 21+ sometimes. Its odd, not sure what to do about that one. But I'll figure it out, or someone will give me a hint/hand.
Thanks for all your input, I really appreciate it.
