Megan EVO 8 Exhaust Manifold - can it be installed on the IX?

Compared to the others out there, this seems to be the most reasonably priced ($225). If any of you have it, are you pleased with the results? It says "Dynoed with 15 hp and 20 torque increase" but I have my doubts.

It will fit, but i wouldnt do it.

Go with a ported stocker manifold, or if you want a tubular the only way to go is the full race manifold.

The new JMF one looks nice though.

I don't know much about it, but what's the advantage of doing that?

Just get the Megan unit. I have used in on my car for my TME and now my ported IX turbo I am running. I have been nothing but happy w/ mine, and unless you want to spend $1k on the full race one or a little less than that for the JMF, which is the one I would get if I had that type of money, then just get the Megan. You will see performance gains w/ it, especially in the torque dept.

Do a search. Buschur did a test a while back and the ported stock unit made more power than any other manifold on the stock setup except for the full race unit.

The megan's and other cheaper manifolds may provide some more hp/tq than the stock manifold unported, but are prone to cracking, and most likely will not make more hp/tq than a ported stock manifold. The only reason to go cheap tublar is for the looks.

^Funny how the most expensive unit over the ported one, and the one he made were the only ones that made power...

From what I've seen the megan manifold seems to crack at the welds. As for power output there have been people one leaning towards one side where they dont make much more power... and the megan guys who think they are okay, and make some more hp/tq. The only dyno results that I have seen are from the buschur tests.

I'm not for or against megan racing at all. I have their o2 housing on right now and its a very nice unit. But their manifold quality has been known in the past to be subpar quality.

I totally understand, I was just making an observation. I bought my Megan used for $60, cause there was no way in heck I was gonna pay $200+ for one new, and I got it sand blasted and ceramic coated and it didnt have a crack before and still doesnt.

A local guy has had his Megan header since 2003 and its been holding up perfectly. He daily drives it through the hot and cold of Minnesota.

The Megan seems like hit or miss. It's your call. Many people complain it cracks, and many have zero complaints. Personaly I wouldn't risk it. I'd pull the stocker off and port it myself. Or buy the JMF manifold. May be a little pricey, but atleast you're sure of the quality and can be confident in it.

There is always the DC Sports manifold, too. I don't see many people using the DC Sports, nor have I seen any good results or reviews on them.

As far as IX to VIII swapability, yes you can do it problem free.
