FP WHITE................................FTW!(dyno inside)
FP WHITE................................FTW!(dyno inside)
So I got my new FP White turbo installed a couple days ago at Switzer Performance , and wanted to share the results with everyone!
Here's the rundown:
Mine is an 05 Evo8, stock engine, stock ecu (Tym Switzer tune), stock airbox..... a set of comp 280's on AEM gears, a Buschur race FMIC and LICP, 3" Megan exhaust with resonator, ebay O2 housing.
boost is controlled by a forge MBC. Nothing is ported.
I've been running the stock Evo8 turbo with a Forge HD actuator, now keep in mind, this isn't the 03/04 turbo, this one has the bigger 10.5 hotside... after rolling it on the dyno it made 386whp and 408wtq on Q16, this is maxed out for boost, hits 30psi and tapers from there..... the AFR was 11.5 to 11.8
We rolled it back off the dyno and did the turbo swap, installing the FP White along with FP's HD actuator... after adjusting the boost to 30psi for an accurate comparison, and adjusting the afr's back to 11.5, we did some pulls and had gained 17 horse and 8 foot pounds, but the sweet part is the "meat" of the powerband was up accross the board, all the way to redline! The white looked to spool up quicker than the 8 turbo even though the pull was started earlier, I'll get back to that later...

Next, it was time to crank it up all the way and see what it could do! Peaking at 35psi, the White layed down 427whp and 448tq!!! doing a few pulls and tinkering with the boost controller made another run that held the top end even better, making 421whp and 437wtq but holding it more up top.... it was hard to tell which turbo spooled up quicker, but runs 32(evo8) and 41 (white) start really close, and the torque just jumps past the evo8 turbo halfway up... you can really feel this! Now from off boost, it's not super super noticeable, but if you're going along at 3200rpm or up, and nail the gas this thing is like INSTANT power, very noticeable difference from the stock turbo

we wanted to see what it would do on pump gas, 93oct. and I know you do to

The drive home from Switzer Performance was a blast!!! The power on pump just shoots up and stays flat, all the way to 7000!! This is at 23 psi.. not only does the power come on quicker, it holds flat on pump gas!
Now I don't have a same day dyno for my old pump gas numbers, but they were right around 325/325, same boost, but not nearly as flat of a HP response, you can really feel the difference on the street.
I want to thank BOTH Robert at Forced Performance, and Tym at Switzer performance!! I'm a novice at autox, but I have a great feeling about going back with this setup now!

Very nice results. It's nice to start seeing more results from FP White turbos. A guy here in Southern California gained 34 hp over his TME turbo on a 91 octane tune. Mabe he'll see this thread and comment. I'll be installing my FP White in a couple of weeks.
Liqquid, do you have head studs on your set up? Also what size injectors are you running?

earlier this year and had to redo it with the studs...I'm actually still on my stock injectors
Those are good gains, but I'm not sure it's much different than going from an VIII to regular IX. I gained 24whp peak when swapping from my 05 turbo to a IX turbo. My VIII had a Forge WGA, but my IX only has a stocker. My gains were with the same mods, same boost, and no retune.
Yes...I gained 34 hp and while I do not know if I would have the same numbers with the standard 9 turbo, I could not be happier. The car is a completely different animal than it was on the TME. It now just keeps pulling...and I cannot keep from smiling. This was done on 91. I have not tuned it for anything else yet....waiting for ethanol. I am very happy with my results.
You dont feel HP. Having a flat HP curve is not a good thing.
You feel TQ. Your acceleration curve mimics your TQ curve. Based on your dyno charts, you have half the acceleration at redline that you do at peak TQ.
I am happy that you are happy with your number. I have to however point something out.

Very promising results! Especially considering the rather light mods. If I see another thread or two with results like this, I'll finally be on the buying this turbo side of the fence
