BOV recirculating question.
BOV recirculating question.
I've read quite a number of posts about rerouting BOVs and seems that most of you guys prefer it this way.
I'm very new to the forced induction camp and have nothing to compare my atmospheric BOV to. What I do notice is that the BOV flutters when i release at part throttle (i think fluttering means Shss shh shh shh instead of one loud SHHH when I release the throttle? or does it occur on boost?). Does the fluttering BOV affect throttle response, power or anything? I would be running 2 settings 1 at 18psi and another at 25 psi
According to this from Evo modding for dummies,
Diverter Valve/ Blow Off Valve (DV/BOV):
Do yourself a favor; kill the ricer within you now. Evos do not respond well to BOVs. Especially if they vent 100% atmospherically. The stock IX diverter valve (aka JDM MR diverter valve) is a very capable and inexpensive solution. The IX diverter is metal and can handle 25 psi without any issue. You will experience very limited, if any drive ability issues. Partial throttle situations will be manageable and not violent.
- If you have an VIII, do yourself a favor and get a IX diverter valve.
- Don't be a ricer, unless you have an aftermarket ecu then stick with a recirculated diverter.
- Aftermarket diverters tend to have partial throttle issues and will never be as daily driving friendly as the stock IX diverter.
What are the partial throttle issues?
I'm using a HKS racing single valve BOV. Should I try to recirculate it or use my stock JDM Evo IX GT valve?
I don't have an aftermarket ECU and have my ECU reflashed with ECUTECH. I wana make sure I get all my hardware right before I send in the car for a retune.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Any explanation to that? Would recirculating the BOV be an option for me? I would also consider the option of buying an APS BOV but would not waste that extra hard earned cash if getting a recirculating system for my current BOV is also just as effective.

dont listen to anyone... its still good... its wont really affect your car as bad as everyone says it will... other than running a lil rich... your tuner can compensate for it in the tune itself
Even if its just an ecu reflash and leaving it still venting to atmosphere?

The synapse never did came across my mind because I do not have a local distributor whereas someone did bring in the APS. I'll read up about it, thanks.

Thanks for the reassurance. By the way, what do u guys mean by fluttering? Does it occur when u are on boost or when u release the throttle.
