does any one else have a noisy power steering pump at between idle and 3000rpm, its a loud whine that is very prominent, i spoke to mitsubishi ralliart in bristol uk and they said it is quite normal, cant help thinking they were just trying to get rid of me, the car is the evo ix fq340 (05) being a newby to the evo scene i have no past experience to go by.

You sure the fluid is full? Never heard of anyone complaining about their Power Steering, i figured this was going to be another fuel pump thread when I saw the title.

You could try refreshing the steering fluid. Just get one of those huge syringes, such as those that we yanks use for basting fowl, and suck the fluid out of the reservoir. Then refill the reservoir with fresh fluid. If you repeat this process once a day for a few days you will eventually cycle out all of the old fluid and replace it with fresh fluid. This may cure your problem. I know that it worked on my Buick.
