I would change the plugs (as was previously stated), and to make it easy, disconnect the neg battery cable (even if the check eng light is not on) for 2-3 minutes, and re-connect. Your car may be in some type of limp mode (ecu). HOWEVER, most common that not, the limp mode "miss" will hapen through ALL rpm ranges.... If you have a data logger to, you might want to try logging some light runs too. If you are not to versed in logging, then you may want to post a request of anyone with the logging software in your general vicinity...

Hope that helps out some....good luck with that :-(

Very helpfull ... Thank you!

Ignorant question with complete lack of Evo tuning knowledge ... but pulling the neg' bat' cable will not lose any settings in the ECU from TTP ? This open ECU thing blows my mind.

I appreciate everyones help!

Did you log the event (when you downshifted to 4th and layed into the throttle)?

Running out of methanol in 4th can be painful to the car but definately see what is going on here: "The sad part is I believe there is also a quiet "knock" that can be heard from the engine at the same RPM".

hahaha good to know! You never know on the forums ... I'm coming from VWVortex where you get flamed for asking the most technical of questions

I was not logging the event. All I have is a "peaks" from the Zetronix. Lambda was .79 ... Boost peak of 25.X pounds, and A/F of 11.9. EGT Probe is toast ... waiting for it to arrive, so it just reads 200.

You are welcome to PM us questions regarding the car. We never tuned a car from Canada, but since we read on into the thread I know who the seller of the car was.

I don't recall tuning the car within the last year or so.

Last time I was in Jax for a Regional DSM/Evo meet, I ran into the prior owner complaining about lack of meth flow. I inspected the pump and showed him where he allowed things from the trunk to roll around and bang into the pump, crimping a line. We cut off the crimp and reattached the line.

The car is likely due for an overview as it has not been looked at in a long time. Methanol injected cars require mandatory periodic maintenance and review.

Found New Plugs locally ... Holy ****, who would think that finding ILFR7H's would be like pulling teeth? It's times like this you can tell the Evo isin't sold in Canada.

$72.50 later, I'm on my way home to install some new plugs and hope for the best. Pulled the Neg' bat' cable this morning ... so thanks for the help guys, I'm doing as you suggested.

Will post the outcome tonight ... Cross your fingers!

Thanks man! ... Certainly ***** deep on this all of a sudden. LOL ... I planned on some Rotors and Pads, UICP, some maintence stuff etc for this year to get my feet wet with the Evo that is new to me as of a few weeks ago ... That did not happen at all hahaha.

All new fluids, new plugs, new TTP Tune, and the above parts.

I'm Broke!
