Do boost controllers come with a replacement solenoid?
I am wondering if all aftermarket boost controllers manual and electric come with a replacement boost solenoid? The reason I ask this is becase the factory one has the little brass pill in it that retricts boost quite a bit and if boost controllers didnt come with a solenoid replacement without removing the pill it would be really hard to control boost would it not? You would think with that restrictor there and the factory solenoid it would be difficult. So basically what I want to know is do they come with replacement solenoids and if so do you just get rid of the factory solenoid and replace it with the aftermarket one? I just dont think you could have two solenoids and have it work well is this right?
Im just trying to understand how boost controllers work.
Thanks
Chris

MBC's take the place of the stock soleniod and EBC's provide there own. Both types usually use a different vacum hose configuration so you end up replacing the hoses anyway. Save the stock hose with restrictor incase you every want to switch back. While the stock solenoid is not used with these units, the CPU needs to see the stock solenoid coil otherwise it throws a code. So you need to leave it plugged in even if you go with a seperate BC.
