air filter

right now i currently have an injen intake and my filter is ready to be replaced, i was wondering if it would be beneficial to cut part of the pipe so i can move the maf further back to run a longer cone filter.

Oh man, please tell me you just didn't say moar air.

Just wash you injen filter and put it back on. A bigger filter doesnt exactly constitute more air.

well my filter is pretty bad it looks like it was crunched. would i be better off getting a vibrant air filter with the open funnel on the top or just buy a new injen one?

i actually called vibrant about the differences between their open funnel top air filter vs. their classic filter design, and they told me that the numbers are exactly the same. no gain using one over the other.

if you want a higher flowing maf then do a blow through gm maf, do a search about it to see if its for you.

An increase in filter surface area can't really hurt. I, personally, agree with your line of reasoning. Bigger is better. If this weren't true then a smaller filter, with less surface area would be equally as effective as the one you presently run. These guys are telling you that smaller is better then.

If you move your MAF back, it will be sitting in front of the AC fan, which pulls a lot of really hot air from the radiator. Longer intake tube and short filter would be better.
