evo 8 exhaust help

i'm buyin a car 7 hours away so i have to go pick it up but before anything is final i wanna test drive the car but the only thing i'm worried about in the exhaust. the lady cosigned for someone and they stopped making payments so it was turned over to her and the guy had the exhaust off because he was going to change it. she is tryin to get the exhaust back before i get up there and she doesnt know anything about it she just knows parts of it is missing...so im thinkin worse case senario...so i have some ?'s

if the down pipe is off and there is no bolts or nuts what size nuts are needs for the o2 housing so i can bolt the down pipe up? and is it bad to drive the car for 7 hours back to home with no downpipe? doesnt sound to good but just wondering if i can't put the down pipe on before i leave.

you are asking for attention from the legal authorities to pull you over and take a dump all over your car. Make sure everything is bolted up before you drive the car back home, plus, I do not think it is even drivable if the car does not have a downpipe. downpipe = midsection from exhaust mani&cat+exhaust. i hope that helps a little.

yeah i'm really hoping its only the catback and not the whole exhaust because if its the whole exhaust thats going to suck but the seller said that they drove it from the kids house and they move it every other couple days so it is driveable...the less off the car the better

where are the 02 sensors of the exhaust isn't there one on the 02 housing and is there one before or after the cat? but if the cat back is off the car shouldnt the car be fine to drive? considering theres cars running dumps off the downpipe and people that use the QTP valve on the downpipe?

if its an evo 8, stock-wise, the o2 sensor(rear) should be on the cat itself. on evo9's case, i heard its after the cat(not to sure, might want to do some research ). if the catback is off the car, sure its drivable, but like i mentioned on my previous reply, are the cops around your town relaxed? cuz im pretty sure it will be loud as hell when your driving without an exhaust, I know cops in MA, my area, are *********** lol.

without a pipes and sensors...the car might go into the "safe mode". It might not let you go over a certain speed cuz the ECU will lock it out. You might want to find out about that. Thats just what I heard at one point.

On an 03 8 the o2 sensor is after the cat. If it doesnt have a downpipe, there is a good chance that the exhaust coming straight down from the o2 housing is going to be melting some stuff. The big plastic shield that is under the front bottom of the car is somewhat under the area where the exhaust would be flowing to. I dont recall if there is anything else around there that would get ruined by being subjected to that much heat, but you better check before you go driving this thing for 7 hours. Cant you send the lady a picture of the underside of an evo, im sure there are 100 of them on here, and tell her...this is a downpipe...is there one underneath this car? If not you need to get one to take with you. Oh yeah, and maybe the rest of the exhaust too.
