Perrin high flow cat - Don't waste your money
could the running rich have been one of the issues? As far as clogging it up, and i know if the cat gets hot enough you can start to melt the metals inside of it affecting flow.
I run one because I don't want a NY state ticket for removing the cat, not to mention any environmental impact

i used the buschur cat for less than 2k before i couldnt see through it anymore, i just said screw it and wnet with a test pipe.
had i known that i was eventually going to be using a 3" tube all the way back for my exhaust system, i would have just fabricated one and bought a muffler instead of wasting like $900 on a name brand one.

well, the car being overly rich is going to clog the cat and cause overheating problems with the brick...
we have seen this in everything from vw/audi/porsche.... we use either cobb or perrin and have yet to have a problem, with them... doesnt mean it cant happen,
obviously a cat is a restriction over a test pipe... just look at it.... there are good metal substrates out there... the cost is a good bit more than a ceramic.

Yes if I were to do it again I would spend more and get a better one. I just wanted to put this out there for anyone on the fence about it. Who knows, maybe one day I will do it again when I am carting around an infant again. Its just not worth the money for this one.
At the time I was willing to give up the 10hp and if that was all I was lossing I'd still consider that but the loss of power is more of a ramp function. Driveability is much better now.

Just what the title says. I had mine on for a year. Its a POS. I was running a little rich, but not too bad and I look back through my logs and after just a few short months of using it it was nothing but an exhaust restriction. After about 6 months I started getting exhaust leaks elsewhere due to the backpressure. It made the car run sub par and I thank Mellon for helping me find the problem.
I took it off last night and youc an't even see any light through the honeycome and the honey come has come loose and is laying almost sideways creating a great restriction. Its started falling apart and this is only after a year, I imagine its been like this for 6 months. If your really really set on a HF Cat spend the money and get a good one and pull a log every month or so and see if your airflow is dropping off.
Thats just my P.S.A. for today. I had good reason to run it last year but I am beyond that now and I won't ever make that mistake again.

and when you place it here you can inspect it visually too. Don't need the computer or extra help
