Question How can I improve my Evo 9 gas mileage?

I'm having this issue, I'm only doing around 300 km, more or less with a full tank gas, this means 190 miles per tank, which is sooooo bad. how can I improve gas mileage? my mods are in my sig.
Is it a good idea to log with evoscan which load cells are affected when I'm cruising in 5th and 6th gear and then modify the fuel map to lower the fuel?

My driving style is doing 180 km/h on highway and 150km/h on normal roads.

Pull the plugs in the number 3 and 4 cylinders, then you will only use half the gas

Seriously though, if you want to save gas, just slow down and try not to boos too much

ummm..... slow down

Your driving over 110mph on the highway and over 90mph on "normal" roads....

Thats a lot of wind resistance.

If you haven't been tuned yet it is probably a good idea, and when you get the tune if they work on the "normal" driving cells that will help. Also it looks like you drive pretty fast, at least for where I'm from. That isn't helping you at all. Me personally I would rather get to my destination faster than save gas so I wish I could drive that fast all the time, but the Evo is not that aerodynamic so when you go that fast the mileage will definitely not be very good.

I've noticed that dropping from say 80 on the highway to 60-65ish makes a significant difference.... gives me more time to jam out and sip some coffee on the way to work.

Simplest way? SLOW DOWN!

110mph is about 5500 RPM. thats sucking the gas down. with that said however, i just drove my Evo 1800 miles from california to texas, averaging 76mph for the entire trip including stops. i spent most of that around 90-100 mph, but i still averaged 23mpg, and got at least 320 miles to each tank of gas. sounds like a combination of maybe you need a tune, or tune up, and you beat the $hit out of your car. just common sense at work here...

That sounds about right as far as mileage goes for those speeds. I used to travel back and forth from California to Arizona at about 85-100 mph and I would usually get around 180 miles per tank.

if you look at my sig, I have a tune and it works sooooo good! i was wondering if based on my current map if I can do something, another map, to lower the consumption at higher speeds cruising

I'm from europe too, my driving style is similar to yours, I get around the same mileage (Evo 8, basic boltons). Drive like that and it's going to be like that. **** it, it's worth it though

I did however manage to get it to 9,7 L/100km (something like 24 mpg I think) with 1 specific tank of gas (it never saw over 3300 rpm in the whole tank and I drove it like a 90year old). I rather pay for gas than drive like that, I just wanted to prove that I can get it under 10 L/100km. My average however is just the same as yours pretty much - 15L/100km (around 15MPG).

There is a large posting about "Economy Tuning" in the ECUFlash forum of this site. You can find some information there about what you are looking for but honestly you are traveling at over 100mph so don't expect to get large gains.
